WOW, welcome January 2012 and now move out of the way because February is a mere day away! With that said, I'm hoping everyone reading has kept true to their resolutions (at least this far) and looking forward to making new ones. It's part of growing and discovering what works and what doesn't. See for me, well that's been easy. I've learned I'm not the greatest blog keeper as being on almost 6 month hiatus means I've been busy working on other world peace plans! All kidding aside, it's nice to be back and ready for new experiences and surprises but before I officially move on with my BIG plans, I'll briefly mention what went down in the last few months.
The last post you read was dedicated to my sweet momma friend Jennylee and her adorable son's Dr. Seuss' birthday party. Shortly after, Jen contacted me for a birthday/breast cancer awareness event at Eleazer Delgado's Studio located in the Wynwood area of downtown Miami where I was more than pleased to assist. Both a beautiful evening and special cause to recognize. Thanks again for thinking of Ever So Pretty, Jen!
(pictures coming soon)
A few weeks after that was a particularly special day for me, my 30th. Yep, it's true, I'm old. But it's quite alright because I don't feel a day over 24 and I believe it (cause my 21 year old co-worker said so). November 14th to be exact...and in case you want to jot it down on your calendars ;)
My husband and best friends planned a wonderful surprise and weekend getaway to one of my favorite places of all, the great NYC. It was more than I expected and a memory I'll never forget. At the ripe old age of 30, I realized the significance of long lasting relationships and what they've meant thus far. I've learned to value the urgency of getting away for a just a few days, even if it means crying like a big baby cause you've missed your flight (yes, that was me...and yes, on my actual birthday), but more importantly, I've confirmed, a birthday is not a real birth day unless you're sharing it with the one who gave birth and the other who helped get you there...better known as, mom and dad. They'll never read this, but in their hearts they know my heart is theirs.
Moving away from all sorts of mushy-ness, the rest of the year flew by shortly after that. Holidays, birthdays, more holidays and more birthdays, a particularly special one that always gets me was my nephew's, who turned 8 years more amazing on Dec 26. But before his actual celebration day, we headed off to the happiest place, yep you guessed it, on Earth! The great big DISNEY WORLD! See, I told ya I was busy! The best news about this trip (as if Disney could get any better??) was getting the call I'd been waiting for a looooong time now. The kind of call that makes you jump up and down and scream "YES" outloud like a total dufus. The kind of call that goes like this, "Hi, Melissa, just wanted to let you know you got the JOB!" Now that's what I'm talking about!!!!
So, now that I've bragged about much more that you all were anticipating for, I'd like to mention what's in store for this year. I've decided to take Ever So Pretty into the realm of both FASHION and TRAVEL. I figured they're my most passionate subjects and at the present time, both seem like the perfect combination, so why not?!
Of course that doesn't mean, Ever So Pretty Events is taking a break, just expanding into the world of All things Pretty.
Stay tuned for pictures and more consecutive posts!!
Xoxo,

ROCK turned ONE!
I know this one took a bit. Maybe it's because there were so many fantastic pictures to choose from this darling little man's family affair. I will mention I can't take much credit for the amazing attention to detail in this post since my friend and awesome mom to baby Rock created just about everything that is displayed. She is by far one of the loveliest people I know and therefore I was honored to work with her in creating and assembling her little boy's 1st birthday.
Her vision was adorably charming, using Dr. Seuss's classic
"The Cat In The Hat" as the theme.

For the sign in table there was a timeline featuring baby Rock at every month leading to his first year as well as VIP passes for party guests to enjoy the fascinating Miami Science Museum.

Mom signing the first dediction to her little man.

Chocolate covered Oreos, need I say more?!

And photo ops for all!

The deliciously sweet candy table and balloon backdrop was assembled and gifted to baby Rock by his mom's good friend from I heart Sugar Sugar.

Bite sized munchies were provided by catering service, Square Plate Miami.

Something about black and white shots that make the moment all the more memorable.

From rhymes to ribbons, super Jen meticulously planned Rock's birthday celebration in between her day-to-day mom and wife duties, a move, and a calendar filled of her own PR events. Funny enough, I remember her telling me several times, " I know he won't remember but..." and sure enough, he may not remember or know all the effort put into it, but all that matters is how much it meant to you, Jen.

Thank you so much for having such faith and giving me the opportunity to be a part of Rock's 1st Birthday. It was a truly special day for us all to work with such a beautiful family.

Our Blue Angel Sent From Above
I'll start off by stating this sweet little post is dedicated to some of my favorite people in the world. Some of whom I hold near and dear to my heart, plus one. A few months ago, we received the wonderful news that Mr. and Mrs. Rodriguez would soon be expecting. Soon after we discovered it was a boy and immediately thought of the adorable aviation inspired "Blue Angel" nod as requested by the baby's father in honor of his very own father, my Uncle. With such a charming and appropriate theme, I let my heart lead the way.
New mommy, Jeanette (which in these pictures was still mommy-to-be) has proven to me time and time again how wonderfully carefree life can really be. From the very first day we met, I knew there was something very special about this little lady. Fast forward a couple of years and she is the most beautiful momma in town!

It was an all ladies shower held at the Miami Springs Country Club with an abundance of tasty appetizers and choice of entree followed by a delighful table of desserts.

And lets not forget the sweet and tart blueberry infused wine concoction for the non-preggered women.

A dedication table for our Blue Angel himself.

As with all details, I received tons of help from my mother and sister in law in assembling (and tasting). These mini peanut cones were not only a perfect little treat but originally thought of as "flight snacks" to go with our pilot inspired theme.

The lovely and perfectly fitting cake was created by a very talented friend, Sandra Cordero of Sweet-Tooth Cakes and Cupcakes. I simply gave her an invitation and she did the rest, exceeding our expectations not only in design but in pure deliciousness as well.

The mini whoopies, Oh My! These dangerous little bites were easily assembled by Sash and I with just a dab of vanilla flavored icing and vanilla wafer cookies.

The rest of the sweet treats included powdered donuts, icing covered pretzel rods, chocolate wafers, blueberry and lemon pies, blue swirled lollipops, almond filled chocolates and m&m candies...mostly mini-sized for minimal guilty indulgence.

It was a gorgeous and dearly devoted day to this beautiful family I am privileged to call my own. Below are a few of my favorite pics honoring not only the pretty momma while rocking the aviator shades to go with our theme.

The baby daddy (sporting his Blue Angels tee) alongside his favorite cousin in WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD, me :)

And last, a close up of my own personal detail and piece of heart I carry too.
In memory of my uncle Luis Julian Rodriguez. Thank you for giving us all your love, knowledge, support and best of all sending us a little part of you to remind us of it all.

Dear Dad, this one's for you...
A little late on this post since dad's birthday was a wee bit ago, nonetheless, I found it to be most appropriate to blog about since we're on point with father's day coming up. Those who know me personally know very well my obsession with a few things, people in particular include my nephew and father. Both drive me crazy and both bring me great joy. With that said, I'd like to share this event from my own family scrapbook with all of you.

With a castaway theme inspired by "The Old Man and the Sea", I used elements such as sand and seashells to play with the brown and blue nautical color scheme.

For food we created dishes such as ceviche, shrimp enchilado, black bean with corn salsa and chicken mango chutney to tie-in with the tropical, beachy vibe. As with the decor, I used subtle touches of old world map serving trays as well as boxes wrapped in map paper too. As for the adorable paper boat idea, well that I can't take credit for since it came from Mrs. Crafty herself, Martha Stewart.

And then there were desserts...a little overboard with these (no pun intended). Some were homemade, others store bought, overall it was a rather large selection of sweets ironically served on a diabetic man's birthday.

Being that the birthday boy is a BIG chocolate lover we went with not one, but two chocolate cakes and creamy chocolate mousse. For those who were not fans of the dark indulgence there were mini key lime pies (courtesy of my sis-in-law and photographer) lightly chocolate dipped cookies sprinkled with coconut shavings, fresh fruit, rice pudding and warm cappuccinos, all which helped keep a nice sugar buzz throughout the night.
It was a lovely evening for all but I think for him and myself it was far more than just another birthday gathering. Because as big (old) as I am, I am still daddy's little girl. While growing up it was his belly I slept on and his shoulder I tugged, pulled and cried on. From his stories and life experiences to the memories we've shared as a father/daughter duo, I've learned he is everything I've ever wanted to be. He is my reason for living and loving all I know, so for him I celebrate it all.

I hope this serves a little inspiration in planning a special day for all the daddies in your life too.
Happy Father's Day, Papi.
